I'd have to say that Halloween is one of our favorite times of year. I love that it is the start of the festivities for the next three months.
Last weekend we went to Farmington to a pumpkin farm with cousins and grandparents on Bryan's side of the family! The farm has a hay bale maze for kids. This picture shows half of it. My girls are in the center (Emian has a striped bandanna and Addison is right in front of her). The others are cousins and an aunt. they had a really good time chasing each other through the maze and getting to the end of it.
After running through the hay bales a couple of times, we moved on to the corn maze. There were six check points throughout the maze. If you punch each one with it's corresponding hole punch, you get a prize at the end. It was fun, but a bit hot at almost eighty degrees (on October 18, crazy!). Before we left we headed into the pumpkin patch to pick out the pumpkins. It is so interesting to see what each of my daughters thought was the perfect pumpkin. I think that this was my favorite part of the day, watching my daughters scour the patch for the perfect pumpkin!
The Fire Station Visit
Yesterday, Emian's pre-school had a field trip to the fire station. Emian thoroughly enjoyed it. So much, in fact, that pirates might be getting replaced with being a fireman! One of the firemen put on all their gear so the kids could see what they look like and know not to be scared of them. After he was all dressed and had his mask on and air tank going, Emian turned to me and said, "That is so cool!" They lifted each child up into the truck and let them look in. Emian usually likes to stick by me and not participate, but she wasn't about to let this opportunity pass her by!
Emian proceeded to tell me that she was going to be a fireman and later in the day she decided that she is going to marry one too! All the kids were given plastic fire hats at the end. Emian has hardly taken it off since. We placed it at the end of her bed last night and within seconds it was on and she was out of bed saying,"I hear someone calling HELP!" We had to convince her that it wasn't her turn to go save anyone. It was her turn to sleep in her bed at home. It seems she has found a new obsession for her role playing! I love to watch her learn and grow and see how her interests change!
