Our Snake Find
So, in a previous post I mentioned our pet snakes. Until last night we had a gopher snake named "Snakey" and a king snake that was pretty much unnamed. The gopher came from a past co-worker of Bryan's. Bryan bought the king snake as a baby just over a year ago. Well, the king snake mysteriously disappeared one day. Bryan was cleaning the cage and thought maybe it was burrowed in the sand, but quickly realized it was gone. It was small enough to fit through some hole at the top or just pushed its way out. I really do not like snakes and was horrified that I was sharing my house with an uncaged snake. I watched every step I took for the longest time. We finally came to the conclusion that the snake had to have found its way outside and was long gone. A good four months later Emian came running upstairs telling me she didn't like the snake that was downstairs in the bathroom. I sat there puzzled for a minute and questioned her about what snake was in the bathroom. A light bulb went on and I scurried downstairs to find the king snake in our basement bathroom hissing away. I turned the garbage can upside down over the snake because I don't touch them and it was MAD. So the king snake was back, at least for a few months (2, 3, 4, who knows). It was Saturday morning and I was still asleep. I thought for sure I must be dreaming because the girls came running up the stairs yelling, "Dad's snake is gone again." Sure enough, the snake had disappeared for the second time. Bryan even took taping measures on the lid of the aquarium to ensure the snake couldn't push its way out. So, again, I would watch my every step as I walked through the house, mostly the basement, because I didn't want an encounter with the snake. Another two or three months pass and Bryan decided to give "Snakey" back to his co-worker because it doesn't get alot of attention. Last night he came to get the snake! Woo-hoo, we're about to be snake free. Bryan came down the stairs to get Snakey and low and behold, the king snake is sitting at the bottom of the stairs, just hanging out. So, "Houdini" (as we have now named the king snake) is back and Bryan is going to get a locking lid for the aquarium. We'll see how long it takes Houdini to get out this time.

April, You are much more patient than I am I guess. That snake would be long gone if it kept getting out and wandering my house. Snakes give me the creeps. I can hold them and be fine I just don't like the idea of them slithering around while I am sleeping! YIKES
