Nearly every time we head up to Silver Lake near Brighton we see a moose. This is the moose for this summer. Bryan took the girls by himself one day for a great adventure and they were not disappointed!

They also ventured off the trail at one point because one of the little ones needed to find an impromptu toilet. In their quest they found an abandoned mine (which for Bryan and the girls is about the most fun they could have)! My family is a bunch of rock hounds and they spent most of their hike looking at rocks. We have all kinds of little rocks at our house (which, when no one is looking, I deposit in the flower gardens outside) from this hike or that hike or the rest stop traveling to/from vacation, from the walk around the neighborhood, etc.

Walking around Silver Lake is one of our favorite, non-energy exerting mountain activities. There is always something fun to see, people to watch, rocks to scramble, and of course MOOSE!

No fair! We have never seen a moose up there! The last time we went we were told about a sighting, but we never found it and ended up hiking up to twin lakes instead...
