Today, August 25, 2008, was Addison's first day of first grade. She has been extremely excited to get back. Having three recesses and eating lunch at school were what excited her most. I have had an extremely hard time with the start of school. I did not want it to start. It has been so nice having her here at home all day. The idea of first grade has been harder for me than kindergarten. I guess knowing she is gone all day as opposed to two and a half hours has been a rough transition for me. I have been emotional thinking about it and I was extremely emotional when I dropped her off. I waited until her class was in line and following their teacher in and then I fell apart. Thank goodness I had two friends by my side who I am very comfortable with.
In the last three weeks or so, Emian and Addison have become best friends. Played all day with each other. Of course it happens right before school starts. I think Emian was feeling a little left out or abandoned this morning. She locked her sister out of the house this morning, teased and hurt her. She gets to start pre-school in two weeks. Hopefully that will help her feel a little better.
Addison, I love you. I hope you are having a great first day of school. Be a good friend and listen to your teacher. Emian and I will be waiting on the door step when you get home!

Do worry Apes,I think every mommy has an emotional first day of 1st grade. I know I will.I got choked up just reading about Addison going and she isn't even mine.
Wow, mama, it was Fairen's first day at pre-k today, too. But it is her 3rd year of school so it wasn't hard for me. I should have taken a picture, too but nah. I am so ready for kids to be in school and be free from constant tagging from them, but at the same time it is kinda sad to see them all grown up. I miss the baby stage...!

You guys are so lucky that the kids get 3 recesses in 1st grade and only have 1/2 day kindergarten. In FL it's all day K and maybe 1 recess in K and 1st. Some schools have no recess. Can you believe that robbery? I think it's time we move back west...
I sure was sad too to send the kids back to school and let the world have at them. We just love our little babies don't we?
