We let the girls graffiti the kitchen. They seemed to really enjoy coloring on the cabinets and walls. (Thanks for the idea Susie!) Emian seems to have an obsession with writing on walls, we're hoping that this will help get it out of her system rather than make the problem worse. She is under huge threats regarding the new kitchen and writing on the walls. This picture here is my favorite of their art work!
You may be able to tell by the next two pictures that we have had a hard time picking a color for the wall. I have put a total of 5 colors up trying to decide what we want. I think we've settled on one, but quite honestly, I still am not sure.
Our lives will be turned upside down for the next three, or so, weeks. It was strongly suggested that we cover our furniture or we may be very sorry. This room will be empty in a few weeks anyway to refinish the floors. But as you can see by the next picture, only one step at a time! Our windows in the basement are going to be replaced in the next day or two as well. Not only do we have our make-shift kitchen in the basement, but we need to pull the furniture away from the walls so they can reach the windows and all the boxes and bins from the packed kitchen are lining the other wall. I think we've bitten off a lot for the first week of this remodel. I keep reminding myself how worth it the end result will be. A week or two of extreme displacement and another week or two of moderate displacement is a small sacrifice in the end! Check back for daily updates--we'll watch this kitchen trasnform. Woohoo!
