Kitchen Remodel - Day 8

Oh my! I think day 8 is the most exciting yet! (Although day 1 was right close behind.) The floors were finally finished being laid and then they did the first sanding. Then Doug slapped up these babies in 3 hours, by himself. Emian and I were gone while he did this work. When we came home he was cleaning up and my jaw fell to the floor. I couldn't believe how much he accomplished in three hours. So these are most of our cabinets. We chose maple cabinets that have been painted "quail egg". The color is a bit creamier than white, although they feel pretty white when they are not next to something white. The kitchen is really feeling like a kitchen again. Tomorrow he will patch and mud and the granite place will come to make their template. Friday the four upper cabinets will go in! Appliances will be delivered on Monday! I can't stop opening and closing every cabinet and pulling open the drawers to watch the soft close take action. Eeeeee....I am so excited and ready. I don't know how people go through long remodels. Our little family seems to be on edge with our limited living space. Three weeks will be plenty of time. Plus I am excited to clean my house (the dust has covered just about every square inch, upstairs and down) and do some cooking again!
Long view from the garage landing.

The cabinets under the window and to the left are only 12" deep. They are smaller so we can still have an
eating area in the kitchen. The granite will come out the full 24" for leg room.

The cut out here is for the farm sink. It is directly under the new window.

This cut out is for the gas cooktop. The two open holes in the next cabinet will be the ovens!
